Hi all,

I've had a very busy time at work recently and have not had the time to blog or even go on-line much.

I will report on my training progress shortly and fill you in on my build up to the London Marathon.

Just thought I would leave a brief message to let you know that all is well.

Hope you're all OK and training hard for the new season.

Jamie

Day 28 - Saturday
I woke up feeling quite rough on Saturday morning. My stomach was really giving me grief and I was more than a little concerned about my long run. Fortunately about an hour before setting out on the run, everything was sorted, if you know what I mean. Shocked

Conditions were a bit testing for the first couple of miles as I battled against a bitterly cold wind.
As soon as I warmed up things got a lot easier.
I began running 7:30 splits and felt really good. At 8 miles I faced a 2 mile up hill section which normally takes a lot out of me, but not this time.
I felt really strong and attacked the hill to record sub 8 minute miles for the hill section. Something I can't ever remember doing.
I can feel my legs getting a lot stronger and I think I have to put it down to the work I've done on the bike, especially the big gear work on the turbo.

I finished my 12 mile run in 1:32:50 with an average HR of 148. This is only just entering zone 3, so I have plenty left in the tank.

Day 29 - Sunday
I was forced to take an unscheduled rest day on Sunday due to my stomach pains returning with a vengeance after the previous days long run. I was intending to go out on the bike for 90 mins, and was gutted after seeing just how beautiful the weather was.
Oh well, fingers crossed for another good day next Sunday.

Day 26 - Thursday
I originally intended to do another interval session on the treadmill, but my legs were feeling a little sore and I just didn't want to take any risks.
So instead I just stuck the treadmill on 13kph and a gradient of +1 and kept to the same speed from start to finish.
It was a very comfortable run with my average HR being only 150.

In the evening I finally managed to get my lazy arse off the sofa for the first time this week and get on the turbo.
I did another big gear session but put the resistance level up a notch and my god was it hard. It was a real struggle to stay above 60rpm, but I just grit my teeth and tried to get through the pain.
It made a nice change to really go out of my comfort zone on the bike.

Day 27 - Friday
Rest Day.
I made the most of a lunch time without training by going up to the restaurant and having a chicken & mushroom pie with chips and peas.
It was gorgeous. Very Happy
I was tempted by pudding but managed to stop myself. I think it had something to do with the fact I've trained so hard for the last 2 weeks, eaten really healthy and I haven't lost a pound.
Here's hoping for a better result at tomorrow's weigh in.

Enjoy the weekend folks.....
