Hi Connor - you need to take a course if you want to teach. There are a few different qualifications that you can get. I've got an 'Indoor Cycling' qual, but if you want to teach at a Spinning (TM) gym, I think you need a full Spinning qualification - see www.spinning.com.

This is the one I did - and I loved it.

Same for me.

I have heard of instructors taking 20 spin classes a week amongst teaching other things, but I can't believe that's good for them !

Triple sesh! You lucky so and so, Connor! Twisted Evil The most my club does is two back-to-back 45-min sessions but that's only 1.5 sessions, really.

Used to do monthly 3.5 hour spin marathons in Italy - and felt fantastically high afterwards Cool

As for teaching....I'm waiting on a trainer friend of mine to get me a freebie place. Then it's spin city (pun most def intended!) for me!

What kind of instructor ? If you want to work on the gym floor you usually need you 'Gym and Weights' Qual.

If you want to teach aerobics or step you need an 'Exercise to Music' Qual.

Local colleges usually do them. But asking at the gym is good. I know Fitness First has a scheme where you spend a few hours a week as a Motivator (looking after the gym and members) so you get a taste for it.
