And I had the pleasure of seeing TC go past as well Smile

Yeah bit of a mare to say the least, BUT this is a superb race and I hope to be back next year.

Dropped chain, feckin chain catcher only caught the chain after I at last managed to wrestle it from between small chaining and bb.

Big detour shortly before half way. Figure cost me about an hour. Caught TC in early stages of same detour.

Rear mechanical stopped working. Toughed it out as long as possible but had to stop early up next steep climb at which point TC came past.

Tons of detour on the run.

5 years on and I am seriously considering blowing some brownie points on this one.

Anyone from here confirmed yet?

I assume TC is not on the entry list yet, but will turn up at 4:05 am and make the bus wait for him.

Smile Thumbs Up

Would dearly love to do this (last ever?) one but am really unfit following rotator cuff surgery a couple of months ago (supraspinatus tear sustained during training for the half-X last year). Also about to start complete renovation of a farmhouse, so trying not to plan much for this year. Mumble, mumble, feeble excuses I know...

Boohoo. I've had to pull out (well, not enter) due to family holidays clash.

At least I won't have spend time sitting in a bus waiting.

Tempting, after all there's 3 months to train!

Last fortnight I've been getting back into training. Ten weeks from the shoulder repair op now, lots of physio, and I reckon I can try a first swim in the next few days. I could possibly wing the bike/run for Jurassicman but not sure about 2.4M sea swim...

I'm woefully undertrained this year but have reasonable base laid down so could probably wing it around a course.
So... Midnightman or Jurassicman... you doing both I guess TC?
I've done MM a few times so new pastures appeal (especially as it's unlikely to be PB time) but then the swim on JM puts the fear of Dinosaurs into me....

Really looking forward to this one having missed out due to illness first time around. How does it compare with the Brutal Triathlon up at Snowdon? Bike looks like less climbing and a couple of miles shorter.

Also doing a 10k the week before in Bridport for my Dadís 70th so not planning much of a taper just to finish.

The swim is in Budleigh Salterton, is that right?

It's not particularly tidal (though there is a flow that always seems stronger going back towards the river Otter [so East] when the tide is coming in), it's normally the wind that makes it tough. A SW prevailing wind tends to push you along one way (again towards the river otter), and makes hard work coming back.

This summer has seen some of the best conidtions in a long time down there though, where it's been as flat as a pancake. It only takes a small wind to lift the sea into a chop, which makes swimming a tad tricky.

The sw1m in the first year 2013 was flat calm, but there was an awful current that caught out the slower sw1mmers like me on our third lap.

Personally I found it harder that the Brutal Shocked Proper toughie this Cool

Wicksy is favourite to win, despite his sand bagging Razz Good work as usual at Outlaw btw m8 Thumbs Up

Was going to approach this a bit like IM Wales but think I might take the bike a bit easier. Sea temperature around 18 degrees so quite nice. Just need the wind to behave.

Cheers TC. Not use to doing long races so close together so more interested in enjoyment rather than time and position. Never run on the Jurassic coast so couldnít resist this.
