Good luck to everybody taking part in today's (and other days?) Butlin's Swimathon, including Daz who I've shared a lane with for the past 3 or 4 events. Sadly, I won't be there tonight but I did do a 1600m swim at lunchtime in sympathy! Anyway, enjoy the event whether its 1500m, 2500m, 5km or even 10km. Tell us all about it over the week-end.

Cheers giantman. Good luck to everyone else doing it!

My right shoulder hurts a little from weights the other day but mentally I'm ready at least. My aim is to make sure I at least do 2500, preferably 3800. I'll take a time check for both of these if I remember, and then possibly carry on. Looking forward to seeing how far I can go before I get tired/bored!

Well I managed 1hr 36m 20s for 5k Very Happy and am very pleased with myself.
had a great time and the whole thing was very well organised. I got them to note my time for 3800mtrs which was 1hr 12m so pb's on both times.

and the best thing ? ( apart from the cash raised )

I got my first medal Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Winner which I will be wearing all day.

well done dre!

had a good un myself too. didnt think my arms would manage the full distance, but they did! I went a little fast at beginning but calmed down after, and tried to draft at any opportunities. Wasted a bit of time talking to counter and trying to find out what I'd done, as well as stopping twice later on because of calf cramp. But felt ok the next day and I realise now that ok I may not have developed my short course speed but thats because my muscles have adapted for long course. Fair do's!

did 3800m in 1:09:57 and 5k in 1:32:29

My little girl did it too!

More than twice the distance she's ever done before. But kept tick-tocking away. I think the fact that her hat kept popping off (she has a great deal of hair!) and she had to keep replacing it and her goggles every few lengths meant she didn't blow up.

But 2:09 wasn't bad, was it?

Fresh as a daisy afterwards, and able to consume her body weight in pizza. (I helped)
