Meh, he's swimming the narrowest bit.
It's like those "Round the World" Yacht races - they whizz down south, nip round the 60th parallell then come back up again, it's hardly going around the world is it ?
edit .. aha, reading his website further it's all clearly just a ploy to get off with Meccano Spanner

I can fully understand this, having been fully killed by a random meteor strike aged seven. Literally all they found were a few bits of gristle in the crater. But it only strengthened my love of astronomy, in fact the very next Christmas I asked for a telescope, and I still have a picture of Tim Peake on my bedroom wall.

Yep, I couldn't understand how he was still here if he'd actually drowned
It's not clear how he's actually doing it, but I assume he's getting out of the water and resting in the boat and then getting back in at the same GPS coordinates as he got out? The tracker shows that he's done 37 miles in nearly 5 days, so at that rate it's going to take him a hell of a long time to get there! His distance for the latest day is 6 miles in 5.5 hours.

yep, i would guess it's not going quite to plan....unless he is positioning himself to pick up a current and has to do this hard bit first...

I don't think its really gone to plan at all so far. He was due to start earlier in the summer, plus there was a last minute crew change.
This Guy is planning on a New York to London swim next April https://www.newyorktolondonswim.com/

I think we need to convince the LetsRun folk to sent a team out to swim with him just to prove he's not another Rob Young...

The guy has died twice, so there's no doubting his resilience.
