Thanks, how far ahead did you book the hotel, flights etc

I'm looking now.
I'm going with RaceForce who offer a 5-day package which includes bike transportation, and as for flights.... so far it's either Stansted direct, or BA via Dusseldorf. Longer time in air but flight times better and Stansted for us a bugger to get to.

Hi guys,

I've got a weekend promotion on 32Gi - 15% off with the code: Kona15

www.32gi.co.uk

In case you wanted to get some testing done over winter.

Any questions, give me a shout.

To pre-empt the obvious one, I'm not sure what flavour combinations will be out on the course yet as this is being organised by central HQ.

Just following this up...
Anyone know if it's the Endure or the Race formula drink which will be given out at the bike aid stations.

Anyone looking to camp at the race this year?

Based on the cost/options I'm probably going to drive from the West Country in a camper. Would be interested to hear if anyone else is doing similar.

I'm surprised just how short this Roth thread is; back in '08 when I did it this thread would have been on 20 pages by now!

If you want any info, happy to help wherever I can.

Jorgan,

Any information would be gratefully appreciated. I see from previous threads you are local/experienced with this race.

I will either be camping at the fields by the swim starts or at one of the other local purpose built camp sites.

My main concern at the moment is with logistics. With the race information still to be released I am unsure how to best play the juggling/transport between the 2 transition areas.

e.g. Is there transport from the race finish back to the start etc..

I camped at the start of the swim last year. It was absolutely ideal and made the majority of the logistics a dawdle. We (two of us who were racing) drove over in a camper van to arrive in Roth on Friday afternoon. We were late, missed the pasta party but caught the end of the expo for the day and registration was a dawdle as nobody else was there!!

Drove to the site and setup on the Friday night. Racked the bikes and handed in the bags Saturday morning - a small walk from the camp site. Then walked up to Hilpolstein and got the train into Roth (stops right outside the expo) did the race briefing and looked at the various stuff that was for sale before getting the train back to Hiloplstein - check the timetable before you get into the expo for last train back! Or get a taxi back.

Race day was also stress free as we were off at 7:25 so tonnes of time to go and check the bikes, pump tyres up and other assorted fannying about before heading back to the site to suit up.

End of the day also fairly straightforward, collect your stuff from T2 and get the bus back to the site. We had to Q for a wee while as it was pretty busy but easily doable.

Site is a field. Toilets are very basic portaloo which were pretty rank after race day and the showers were bracing as they were largely a hose connected to a timber frame outdoors. Did the job though.

If I was going back i'd camp again.
