Paul Kaye is good, I tend to assume the race is in danger when there are no pros though (like Wimbleball)

Have I missed the announcement that it's a non-pro race?

It was a non-pro race last year too. I think it's had a relatively small field in the past compared to some of the others.

No it wasn't, there was both male and female pro races. My club mate raced and came 5th in mpro.

Not sure Phil Graves and Nic Baldwin would be too happy being called non-pro's! Laughing

are downhills technical/scary? I am pretty bad in tech skills

I raced Tenby last year. It's not too technical or scary, just be sensible. Saw one guys stack it and another being put in an ambulance but they must have lost concentration or not taking care because there is nothing too difficult.

Just ride within your capability, don't be afraid to slow down.

Out of interest how does the course break down in terms of Aero?

I'm spending a lot of time on the turbo in my Aero position, and I'm finding power production comes a bit easier for me when tucked.

Worrying I will struggle to put this too good use? How much of the course is realistically aero? I don't really like climbing much above 5-6% aero as it just feels wrong and pretty pointless, there isn't much wind at those speeds. But other than that I'm quite happy tucked up spinning away.

I don't have a road bike so the road vs TT debate is not a problem for me!

PS Not concerned with aero/non aero descending that's an assessment I will reserve for on the day based on courage.

In my opinion it is definitely a TT course. Yes there is a lot of hills but there are also spots that you are not allowed on your aero bars so you don't have to think. Most of the first 50 miles you can get aero and chunks of the 2 hard loops you can too.

Well we are now under the 8 weeks to go banner for IM Wales..!! 👍 Hope everyones training is going to plan and everyone is getting the results from their training that they were hoping for.

Im having a rest week this week and plan on doing very little other than work and rest. Possibly IM UK on Sunday wasn't the best idea for a training day I've ever had. That all said and done I finished in a time I'm happy with and now just need to get some more hills in for the bike and dreaded run.

I hope to be able to meet some of you over the weekend as I'm in Kiln Park and will be arriving on the Friday evening.

Take care everyone and enjoy the journey to the start line. See you all in Tenby....lush 👍👍

I said to Mrs FP this morning ' IM Wales is 8 weeks away this coming Sunday' oops Very Happy

On the plus, taper times comes a week earlier, on the downside, one less 'long week' than I calculated, DOH!

I am arriving on Thurs and staying at The Atlantic, possibly with my dear old Mum in tow and possibly my neighbour . (Mrs FP and little one are staying home).

Those staying at Kiln Park, I'm curious how you are doing it. We looked at it for a family trip for IM but vans can only be booked Sat-Sat or Mon-Fri, are you getting there Saturday and racing the next day Confused

Just had a chat with the owner of the purse stings, the long haired General has briefed me that we are arriving on the Friday and departing on the Monday.

We did book this last September a few days after the last IM Wales. FP it's only 7 weeks this Sunday 👍🏻👍🏻 Then it's a rough sea swim 🤢, hilly ⛰🚴🏻 And to put the nail in the ⚰️ The honking run 🏃🏼.

Must admit I'm looking forward to this so much more than I was Bolton. No offence to the IM UK Bolton lovers, just not for me.
