I haven't posted on here in a long time, or even lurked, so I have no clue if any of the old guard will read this. However, I was just clearing out the cupboard under my stairs *insert double entendre comments here* and I came across the Tritalk lantern rouge. Awarded to the final Tritalk finisher at whichever race there was a large contingent racing at, I'm sure there is more history to it if PaulL or Big Bopper et al are still about to fill us in. Anyway Tony won it when Tritalk DID Day in the Lakes in its first year, 2009 I think. He raced whilst he was ill with tonsillitis and I was not there to stop him going out for the run so despite the best efforts of Cleo and others he wandered off to 'run' and finished the race in about 8 hours and brought home this trophy for his efforts. There was a race report about it I think.

We no longer need it gathering dust in the back of a cupboard so if any of the old crew want it, or if there is a new group of tri talkers who meet at races, I am happy to arrange to get it to you so you can continue the tradition.

I'm not on FB until lent is over but will put something up there if I have no joy here.

welcome back, even if briefly, Sheila...

Much of the old guard has departed, sadly, but there is a new guard of fresh TTers who seem to be connecting well...

the lantern rouge would make a fine award for the new guard to aspire to Smile and i am sure one of the Admin would gladly take it off your hands

I'm not sure if anyone lives near Essexonia; Hammerer is Kent...not exactly on the doorstep. Tbh, the 'scene' here is nothing like the hay day of Tri Talk (or Forums in general), so the turn-out at events is pretty diluted and TT kit is something you'll not see around any more I'm afraid. I don't think I even have any of it left now.

The times they are a changing.

Wondered why I wasn't seeing any posts from you Sheila Smile

I never came close to troubling the Lantern Rouge in the old days but might well do so now if I were ever foolish enough to enter another triathlon Laughing

SheilaP - Hope you and the family are all keeping well.

As far as I remember the Lantern Rouge was a one off prize for ADITL.

But there is no reason why it can't be passed on for use at another event.

I had a quick look back at the original race thread and it was a closely fought contest at the time.

Paul L - 7h 51m
Ray - 7h 52m
Tony P - 8h 11m

And I only beat Ray by 60 seconds due to Mrs Slacko saying "Is that Ray?" every 5 mins when my feeble attempt at running ground to a complete halt. Rolling Eyes

But to the victor the spoils.

Take care, Paul. Smile
