Going to be working in central London from the summer.

Anyone have any recommendations for decent pools with lanes swims and also anywhere/gyms with watt-bikes etc? Probably going to be a week on, week off type scenario so probably wont take a bike or turbo up with me or atleast not initially anyway.

I've googled but always good to get recommends based on experiences.

Cheers in advance.

Central London covers quite a large area - can you narrow it down a bit ?

I swim at EnergyBase (33m pool) and sometimes Oasis (25m indoor and 27and a bit m outdoor pools), both have laned sessions, both in the Tottenham Court Road area.
Energybase requires you to join, though they do monthly, Oasis you can just buy tickets on the day. There are a number of other pools around.

Thanks for that Doug.

I'll be working Whitehall area so Tottenham Court Road area would work for me.

I'll have a look at those for sure.

Thanks again

Only west of Putney bridge, so not much use to central folk.

Richmond and Regents park are actually pretty good for training on summer evenings, so I wouldn't completely rule out bringing a bike

Closer to Whitehall may be the Queen Mum at Victoria, I've never swum there but know some who have

There is also open water swimming in the Serpentine in Hyde Park

Two ways to do it:
All year round before 9:30am you need to join the Serpentine Swimmers Club (I think it is 20) and I hear they frown upon wusses in wetsuits

Summer only - 10am-6pm you can just turn up and pay

You'll be more than welcome to join the run group I go to. Normally meet at Waterloo bridge on Thursday 12.45pm for intervals lead by Jemma Simpson

If you like the Watt bike, try the Altitude Centre (between Gresham Street and Cheapside). Pretty sure you can get monthly packages, 10 day packages etc. You can do solo sessions or interval sessions with an instructor (Pre and post work and during lunchtime). They also have treadmills. Great for the training. They sometimes have deals on Groupon as well so worth a look.

I use a Wattbike at Swiss Cottage lesuire centre and I think Camden may still have a couple of them at the Oasis in Covent Garden as well.

Ironmonger Row is a nice pool close to the City.
