Ballot is open this week. I've done my annual entry of disappointment. Been trying for years. Yet to get lucky. I think this time I'll book an non-refundable holiday on the same weekend... Sod's Law and all that.

Good luck, are you not a member of a running club that gets places for members?

Having said for a while that I'm not interested in marathon running (10k and half marathon max for me) I watched the race last week and entered the ballot. Let's see if I have beginners luck!

No - having a young-un means I'd rarely actually attend club training or events, so one of the main motivations for joining a club would be the marathon place - not really cricket in my eyes. Give me a few more years of rejections and I may see things differently mind, though I'm closing in on ten applications, so I may simply be pigheaded.

Think I heard on commentary this year the ballot had 7% success, so a few more years of failing still to go before you're officially unlucky.

I did hear through my running club that the club spots for 2018 were being reviewed again and possibly there are going to be fewer or none allocated by the organisers this year. My club only got one this year anyway (2 the year before despite an increase in EA affiliated runners) and I was second out of the club hat this year (in case the first turned down the spot) Mad

I've also done my annual entry, and I expect my rejection mag in October!

Although can't complain really as have managed to get 3 ballot entries out of the 13 attempts so far, plus a charity spot

I've applied again. Only time I've been successful was when doing the overseas application. I think they were a little disappointed when I wasn't quite as Kenyan as I said I would be.

I've put in my 11th ballot entry in 12 years. Expecting my 11th rejection in October.

My success rate in the ballot is 2 from 2 Cool (2002 and 2009).

Both times I only entered because Mrs W wanted to do it and thought it would be good if we were both doing it. Sod's law dictated that she didn't get in either time Rolling Eyes

Allegedly, if you log in to the realbuzz registrations site and it shows a bib number then you have a place. Not sure if this is the case as I've not got a bib number myself, but, you know, internet rumour Monday and all that.
