Anyone else here doing the half at Holkham Hall in 4 weeks? Looked like around 1900 entries a couple of weeks ago. Here are some comments from last year's inaugural event:
hopper-tri:
Quality of the lake water/ bed is a little questionable!...
As in shallow and much stirred by the number of athletes, or ducky perhaps?
Davem:
Local Hotels are pretty much fully booked- i think OSB are expecting people to camp (big emphasis on this in the race pack)
Extortionate for campervan, we've booked on a small site down the road at a quarter
the price.
hillwall:
Bike course looks good. Fairly main roads (for round here at least) and avoids the main coast road which could get busy. I wouldn't say road surfaces are amazing but not bad. The only bad bit is in/out of Holkham grounds itself which has a few speed bump and cattle grids. But it's the same bit as used on the Norwich 100 every year and it's not really an issue.
I recced the course a few weeks ago and liked it except for the busy A148. Looking forward to getting back there on TT bike.

It's quite exposed in parts, and when I did the bike course it was 25-30mph winds coming from the South. Let's hope for something different on race day, as it made some stretches incredibly challenging!
Yup, I had an unusual northerly on my recce, making the final stretch tough.

i am down for this again, don't know why, its a club thing.
i have to agree with your comments & add that the A148 is a pain in the butt.
buses would not over take cyclists which caused a back log of very slow moving traffic which is difficult to pass resulting in slow bike times.

As long as all goes to plan I'll be there. (Minor technical hitch with having to be in two places at once at the moment - but should sort something).
We've got a motorhome and echo what you say about camping prices. We're a bit down the road - for a lot less money - as well.
I've cycled in Norfolk quite a lot in the past (3 or 4 Norwich 100's amongst other things) and am well aware it can be breezy and isn't as flat as people tend to think.
Other than that I've done both Nottingham Outlaw races and they've been excellent - so I'm hoping this will be the same.

I'm in again, in the "elite" wave
In the race last year, the A148 wasn't an issue at all, but I found the small detour around Burnham Market was on slightly dodgy roads. A bit gravelly and holey, but as we've come to expect from Outlaw it was well marked and those roads were actually closed to cars.
Weather last year was ideal, low winds and sunshine! Fingers crossed for the same again.
Where'll you be coming from Andy?

Good to hear a few others are racing.
On the start-list I did see one other listed as tritalk, Douglas Steel.
I'll be coming from just south of Cambridge on the Saturday afternoon, taking campervan to the small simple Blueskies campsite https://www.blueskiescampsite.co.uk/. At the recce weekend we also looked at Pinewoods site but didn't fancy it much.

Anyone staying at YHA in Sheringham? I am staying there with wife and kids, but I don't think that they want a 6am start, so looking for a lift

I will be at the final briefing on Saturday, from 3:30 if anybody wants to meet up. I will head down to the lake afterwards to scout out some sighting points.

I'll be there for 3:30 briefing too, perhaps rack before briefing so can look at the lake with you and get some tips from your experience last year
5'7", balding, shorts and, umm, black IM Lanza polo shirt.
Looking forward to it.

I was there, for a change I was sensible and pulled out before the run due to my knee injury. It was a real shame as I think that I was 2nd or 3rd in my AG after my fastest ever swim and 2h30m ride.... however, it really goes to show how much you can improve your other disciplines if you are injured in one.
Another 1 - 2 weeks and I think I would have attempted the run
