Those who've done this before. Is the rowing lake open for swimming at all before race day?

They've previously had the big swim the day before. 1500m and upwards options. http://www.osbevents.com/events/swimming/blueseventy-big-swim-nottingham/
Sure they used to let Outlaw competitors in for free.... but don't hold me to that.
Local clubs (absolute tri for one) used to use the lake to some degree but that seems to have completely stopped now.

Agree, think just a bit of time on the Saturday but not certain.
Mojo 1/2 at the weekend was first experience of an out and back swim, feels longer than doing laps.

There has always been a open practice swim for competitors on the Sat whenever I have done it (at a specific time)

First year I did it but never bothered after it, its just a big swimming pool and normally quite warm.

Edit: Also in the Outlaw FAQ's

Can I swim the course in advance?
The lake is not open for general swimming. There are events in the lead up, such as the Nottingham Triathlon and
the Outlaw Half, and we will run an Outlaw swim practice on Saturday 22 July.

Hi guys, I'm a noob here so be gentle.

I see the Outlaw has finally sold out, and that the entry list is now on the website. Interestingly a club 'rival' is also entered; someone I now generally do no more than pass the time of day with Laughing

So how long do we have left? I start my final push on Sunday, four weeks of longer stuff, then two week taper. So it must be just over 6 weeks? Smile

My Half last Sunday went okay, well swim & bike was good, but my run was the slowest HM I've run in a race. Explained by a lack of bike volume I would suggest, not allowing me to run to my potential (I have run two sub 20s in Sprints - so speed not an issue). A chance to address this over the next month with longer rides, and some longer Bricks too.

I'm out

Other than one good week in Lanzo I havent done much in the way of training. (One ride and one swim in May!)

Achilles still preventing me from running.

I did have a thought about converting it to a relay - but they will be waiting a long time for me getting off the bike!

Had two weeks where I've just been running on fumes. I've managed a couple of brick sessions, which is good, but my runs have only been around 10km, while defending my Achilles injury. Have a 12 hr TT this weekend plus a couple of long bikes over the next couple of weekends, so will knock back the cycling in the week and get some longer runs in. To be honest, probably just looking at covering half marathon distance as my longest runs now.

Sub 11 looks pretty unlikely but I'm ok with that. At the moment I just want to get to the start uninjured then enjoy the day.

I have yet to enjoy the marathon, even on my best days; maybe it should be S/R/B Very Happy

I've gone from;
Swim - building nicely, cruising 3k pool swims.
Bike - decent mileage on roadie, all good.
Run - hopeless. Achillies just crippling me.

to
Swim - recurring shoulder injury back in open water.
Bike - can't get comfy on TT and ride past 3 hours.
Run - knocked out a 15 miler and felt good. Plan to get to 20 back on track.

Heads becoming a right mess.

What is the comfort issue on the bike?

Smile Yeah, it's all relative. I think if I can reiin in my ego on the bike enough I can run more of the run rather than walking it all.
