Who else is in, and any recommendations for good campervan spots for the weekend? Looking forward to this, having done the full for the last couple of years. Will be warming up with Helvellyn 3 weeks earlier, and recce'ing both 22-28th July:

Andy Bryant Andy916 M50, black Scott Addict

I am thinking about this one for next year. I am doing Helvellyn this year.

The bike course on Triathlon X looks brutal. The Struggle & both ways up Hardknott pass. Shocked

Tough ride, loved it Smile
With compact and a 32 on the back I felt the front wheel lift more readily than on previous occasions when I had a 28.

I didn't have a compact for the inaugural half-X.

And walked all the way up Hard Knott and Wrynose. Twice.

It's so demeaning. Very Happy

Campsite recommendation, as requested: I've just booked again with Hawkshead Hall (LA22 ONN 015394 36221) which is 4.7 miles down the road from Waterhead. Nice spot, also has internet and electric hookup for campervans.

Looks like you can still book a place on the half til the 17th ... http://www.wasdalex.co.uk/index.php/half-enter

Really looking forward to this, having just done Wensleydale and Helvellyn as warm-ups!

Good forecast for tomorrow, bit blowy on the mountain but feels-like 5C rather than 1C is a definite improvement! See you guys tomorrow. Will be in white Fusion top, white overshoes, blue gilet, blue aero helmet.

Cracking race as always.

Finished in just over 10h at 6pm, chatted for a bit and then direct to the shower. Ate my fish'n'chips on the move and hit home at 10pm. Dumped it all in the garage and bed at 11pm. Up at 6am and now at work. Sad

Next year - take the day after as annual leave! I'm knackered.

On another note, I felt yesterday hit me harder than the full X. The brutality of the compressed hills on the bike are equivalent of a WWE bodyslam. The run is wicked in that after the bike there is not a lot of time to get food on board before hitting the steeps. Depleted from the start. Sure, it's about half the time spent out and about, but I'm pondering whether the half X is actually the harder race of the two.

Very Happy what a day!! I think this was harder than the full the ride sapped my energy and the run was relentless it didn't help took the wrong turning on the bike and swam 2.12km but as always what a well organised day and hats off to all the guys who made it happen and thanks for the cold pizza on top of hardknott Very Happy Very Happy
