They posted a picture of the bike course and said one of the best things about the Lanza event is the bike course. There was no definite statement saying it wasn't changing.

You could say that them posting that is some sort of confirmation but the cynic in me thinks they will continue to say nothing in the hope that people sign up and then break the bad news.

I guess he was referring to a post on Ironman Journey group where Rick Pat wrote:
"Forget about the rumors...the Lanzarote Ironman bike course is not going to change.
Here a ‘reminder’ of one the toughest bike courses at an Ironman worldwide 😉"
Along with a picture of the course.

I hope nobody here has booked their Lanza flights with Monarch.

I would guess that the other airlines' pricing algorithms shifted everything up a notch when the news of Monarch going bust came out Rolling Eyes

Bu99er! At least you should still get your money back.

I guess the nightmare scenario would be if something like this happened just before you were due to travel, when all the other flights were full.

I haven't booked the for IM but I booked my flights for my Lanza camp in March last week. I wasn't sure about Ryanair and thought about Monarch. In the end I thought Ryanair should have got their act together by then and their flight times suited me best so went with them.

Few people on our camp are on Monach I think!

I have travelled to/from Lanza a fair few times with Monarch. Sad to see them go, they were nothing special, but didn't have the reputation of Ryanair. Always a shame when choice is reduced (one day Ryanair may be the only choice).

Any recommendations for warm up races? Central/south preferred?

New forest looks like the right time frame.

Maybe duathlons is a better option?

... does that mean you are looking at flights for any particular reason, Simon? Wink
