Plymouth has a few seawater pools; unfortunately none are good for proper lane swimming. Great location though.

I seem to recall as a student there many moons ago, this was around a lovely part of the town on the seafront. I used to hang around here looking for peace and quiet between my studies and always wondered why everyone was so friendly... I'd always end up having gentlemen coming to sit next to me for a chat. However, I did find them a little intrusive in my solitude.

When I mentioned this strange phenomenon to a 'local', he laughed and enlightened me why this lovely, secluded spot was so 'popular' with gentlemen... Shocked Very Happy

Great photo in yesterdays Grauniad. Looks like a 50m.

A great pool indeed. I want to be there someday.

I have thought about one of these in the past, how do you ease the boredom?. What is the longest you have ever swum in it?

What is the difference between an endless pool and say a short static-water pool where you tie a bungee from your hips or waist to the foot end of your pool? If the water is already streaming past you in an EP, aren't you catching in a turbulent moving flow, whereas in a still pool with a rear restraint you would be catching still water? Both methods seem a little artificial to me at first thought. What am I missing?

longest is 2hr08 mins with a quick glug of drink every 32 minutes (the motor times out at 32 mins)

I usually now do an hour or so.. which is about IM distance.

As to ease the boredom.. its not really much different to ploughing up and down lanes for 2 hours
