I don't see a proper thread for this one yet
I'm signed up for the glamour of Bolton now
Looks like the new course will be announced in December but no idea if it is new new or old with a small change.
Anyone else in?

Is your bike improvement based on anticipated course changes or real performance gains!?!

I've no idea what the course changes are yet.
They are based on me spending 30-40 minutes sat at the side of the road this year fixing a recurring mechanical so I should have gone around 6:05-6:10. I will also be stronger & lighter next year so can find another 10 minutes.

We have the same ultimate finishing target 10:59:59 will do.
Different splits but I'm aiming for 2019 as I will be 50!
I will be supporting next year...!

I'm in for this, really looking forward to it. Just booked my accommodation yesterday, will be looking to make a few trips north to recce the route once it's announced.
This'll be my 4th IM, and I'll be hoping to improve on my 10:31 (1:07/5:54/3:16) in Wales this year. Some very early, subject to change goals will be;
Swim: 1:02
Bike: 5:30 (course dependant)
Run: 3:10
Overall - Something south of 10 hours.
Lets get this show on the road!

If you can do 4:15? At the Deva middle, I'll be amazed if you don't go sub 10 at Bolton.
I'm guessing a 10:30 in biblical conditions at IM Wales will see you well under 10 too.
It's not a fast course it's all up, down, stop, start, turn and twist. That said there are some spots we're you can shift on.
A look see before hand would be paticulary beneficial for this course.

It looks like the new course is announced. Not had chance to look at it properly yet.
All I can see on my mobile from the Facebook page is loads of people suggesting it's been moved around because of a little mix concert...

Nothing to do with the gigs.
Better all round really, nothing at Macron anymore, register in town next to the town halland T2 is in the Park next to the town centre.
2 miles nipped off the bike course at Wrightington to make way for the 4 mile flat/downhill straight run past the Macron into T2. Apart from that it’s the same.
Run through the park to get to Chorley New Road taking out the sharp hill out of town. Same elevation but gradual incline instead.
Much better imo

Much better imo | nah. the park might be nicer but not easier. give me the short sharp uphill (to simply power walk up) rather than a dreaded long slow drag anytime. I predict run times will be slower.

Horses for courses I suppose, I’ll be quicker both up and down it I think. That sharp hill ruins me going up and I don’t go down it very quickly either coz I don’t want to trash my legs.
Slow and steady for me. No doubt I’ll see you run past me at some point AGAIN!
