HI all,

just wondering if anyone has had anything similar or any advice. I'm just under 2 weeks into recovery after open ventral surgery just above the belly button. About a 2 inch cut and was told no mesh was used due to it been very small. have just started doing some light walking 3 miles a day. Was told should be able to do light activities after 4 weeks. after reading so many threads can't seem to see where I fit in as ,many seem to be done using keyhole and mesh. Any feedback or exspirence would be appreciate.

I won't bore you with my story, it was 10 years ago now anyway (in the early days of keyhole/mesh). Suffice to say, it's October, the best time of year to be laid-up with whatever injury/ailment you might have Smile Relax.

I had mine 2 years ago, bilateral hernia repair by keyhole. Rested up first week, 2nd week lots of walking, 3rd week some light wattbike cycling and I mean 10mins easy adding about 5mins each time and listening to your body. Within 4 weeks I was out on road doing light cycling and by 5th week I remember doing some running. Good luck and don't overdo it. You may have some twinges for a few months after.

I still get the odd twinge after all this time, normally when I've been sitting in some contorted angle and straighten-up. I can also feel it down there if I push too hard on the bike (low cadence) and calls of nature....yes I just wrote that! Be very cautious when you visit the WC in the early weeks, maybe a bit of All Bran Very Happy
