You can try the Lake District. It has a good scenery to unwind.

having been to Grays in Essex for the first time today, I reckon that's about as off-beat - perhaps dead-beat - as they come.... Wink

I enjoyed my time around Norfolk/Suffolks area - nice and flat, decent cycling and not too much in the way of traffic.
