I'm booked into the Holiday Inn in Leigh, but was thinking that maybe a hotel closer to T2 might be a better option.
Any suggestions?...

Newbie here....hope everyone had a good Christmas

New to tri and have my first event in April.......very much interested in the IM in July at Bolton and wonder if it sold out last year? Was it possible to register quite close to the event?

I have a plan in place which included learning to swim front crawl about 3 months ago but don't want to commit yet as its quite expensive but then again I don't want to miss out if I get myself into good shape come the summer time.

Wonder if anyone can remember if last years event was full?

Thank you

Sounds like folks heading to Bolton this year might not need to pack their wetsuits Wink

Looking like it as there is no let up in this hot weather for the next 2 weeks. My son is doing a few lake swims without his wetsuit to prepare. Also looking like a possible bike course diversion? I don't know the area but the moors fire looks pretty close to the bike course. I guess the organisers are already looking at contingencies if needed.

I've seen one of the photo's of the fires and thought it was sheephouse, surprised the water will get over 23c but I think I'm in the coldest part of the country ATM, only around 21c.

Rode Sheephouse today, told the copper we were going to the "Cafe at the top".
He let us pass, another bunch and a car were coming the other way.

The fire damage is quite a large area.

Some (unts really do need shooting!

Green Algae in the Flash, that could be too warm for wetsuits at this rate, a possible route change and screenshot on face book today showing 11 days unbroken sunshine then torrential rain on the 15th?!?

I have seen the hours some have put in.... hope it all clears up for a great race.

Managed to pick up a nasty waterbased virus or something from an OW session last week. great timing.

Are there any traffic queues getting to pennington flash in the raceday morning or is it usually quite ok?

IMUK does seem to be a little under-siege from mother-nature at the moment, but hopefully all will be okay on the day! That said, a non-wetsuit swim would be good for stirring-up those numptees on The Ironman Journey (Facebook) Very Happy

Its a good year not to be a race organiser in Bolton. They have my sympathies.

Water only touched 24 degrees in Hampstead this weekend before dropping back off a little. I think Pennington will be a few degs lower.

Bike leg shortened to 95 miles now and swim won't be confirmed to be on (or off) until the race briefing. Most expensive duathlon in history...
