Norseman. Obviously.

It's a ballot though isn't it.

That cost's to enter!

Although that may be a good thing to discourage speculative entrants.

Didn't know that, and couldn't find anywhere on their website saying how much it costs to enter the ballot, including in FAQ! I assume if successful, you get to pay more money, again no mention of how much anywhere.

From memory of looking to apply last year it was in the region of 10, pretty sure it's made clear when enrolling so it's not a terrible amount, just enough to make sure you really want to do it.

Then you have the full fee if successful which isn't too bad from memory, think it's less than IM*. It's the expense of everything else that's the problem.

EDIT: The 2016 entry fee was 3000NOK or about 280 and a lottery ticket was 90NOK or about 10 Euro. They also reckoned around 3650 people applied for the 250 slots Crying or Very sad

crikey Shocked The French have certainly caught up with a plethora of independent iron man distance races, same as over here. Fair play Thumbs Up

I can recommend ElbaMan in Italy. Magical place to race Cool

I did the Vitoria Gastiez race a few years ago, well organised, held the Euro long distance champs when Macca won it.
Fly to Bilboa and transport from there. Plenty of accom and the food/people etc are great.

Wow, and to think that when I did it people thought I was crazy!

Best race I have ever done with the possible exception of OtillO.

Embrunman & Alpe d'Huez long course were very much on my list when I had to hang up my running shoes. France is a great country for sport - as it Norway Smile

80 for the half in Normandie?

Might pop over if the weekend is free!

Just to mention it, of the 90NOK for the ballot entry everything goes to charity. It is purely to avoid people splattering the already overfilled entry list.

Actually I think it's a cracking way to use a popular event to raise charity money.

Polish championship on Long distance.
Entry fee 95GBP, convenient connection with Ryanair, about 50GBP for a night in a 3* hotel.
You close the bill in less than 500GBP. the best value for money.

Just don't forget your medical certificate and "3 points d'attachement" on your race belt for the number. Wink

Oh and they're a bit more competitive so up your game a bit.

Long distance is a BIG thing in france, they just don't feel the need to boast about it.
