I noticed recently that Garmin Connect has metrics for power whilst seated.

I've got a Powertap wheel and they're always blank but wondered how they got completed. Has anyone seen those filled in and how does it know if you were seated or standing?

I can only think your pedal stroke changes when standing to a less "circular" motion with proportionally more force on the down stroke compared to the rest of the motion than when seated.

Just curious really as I'm not aware of a PM with a micro switch under your ar*e Surprised

You have to have Vector. Or at least you used to. I think DCR said Garmin had opened up those metrics to the normal ant+ channels (rather than being private to Garmin only), but don't think any other manufacturer has taken advantage of them yet.
