I don't remember any additional medical paperwork for Frankfurt. Maybe they brought one in, as it always seems to be non-wetsuit/hot Laughing I just hope for you lot that the clouds are out, as that run course is pretty much all un-shaded concrete iirc.

Medical certificate not required last couple of years.

I wouldn't have thought BTF will cover you in Germany either.

Changes to the bike course according to an email last night.

Now 185km and more climbing.

Dammit.

personally I think it is wrong

we quickly slag IRONMAN off for short courses so why not for long courses ?,

3 miles is 3 miles

never ridden the course so should not really comment .BUT I do not believe they could not reduce it to 180km by altering the course.

its a championship event with a lot of top athletes going for top times ( do not include myself in that bracket mind)

Well, the lake is already 25deg C Smile

Rode two loops of the course today (cutting out the city center)

The new bit they have added is actually much nicer than the old part. More main roads (smoother, faster), and although the profile looks like there are two climbs added, they are at most 3-4% - it's aerobars all the way, with some long fast descents.

Hope everyone is having good prep.

I had a big week last week, long ride and a run five days, a day off and then 5:09 at 70.3 Kraichgau.

Hoping for 11:15 in Frankfurt.

There'll be some worried people if it is that warm.

Is the new bike longer than 180k, it's been changing for a few years for a few reasons, wonder if it will be sticking with this now?

I don't think so - it's to avoid a road closure in Karben. It IS nice, however. Not as a weekend ride, but for the race.

The weird thing is there is an out and back at the North of the loop - reducing this would make it easy to get 180km. It's the 'Mainova Energy Point' - my guess is it's a sponsor thing, and they can't shorten it.

PS Water 25.5 this morning...

Had 10 days worth of gastroenteritis 3 weeks ago, which kicked my prep out of whack. Missed a training race and just felt really weak.

Sort of back on track now and trying not to try and play catch up

Hope it's going ok now !!

So, the temps here have dropped nicely, the lake is well under the 24.5C mark.

The forecast has a couple of warm days the next couple of weeks, but is mostly 20-24C, so all is looking good Smile

Just a shame the bike is 5km too long!

This week is my final big week of training.

Had it not been for the weather 3 years ago, I think I would have done my fastest IM bike split at Frankfurt; it's certainly a very fast course imho. Nicely rolling, and cobbles aside, very fast surfaces.

Always a good chance of non-wetsuit though; which is fine, unless you're trying for a PB I suppose, and the fact it means it's hot.

Did a sub 5hr in 2014, when it was only 30 degrees, so as long as the headwinds on the back section into town arenít too bad itís a fast ride.

Letís hope we donít get the 2015 temps

Well it's over 25 today, but cooling down Friday. Saturday is supposed to drop to 9 degrees overnight (which will make for an odd June bike ride) !!

Next week is supposed to get warm again, but race week low 20s, so conditions could well be perfect.

Still feeling a bit annoyed about the extra 5km on the bike Mad - not so much because it's longer, but more as I was hoping for a PB on the course vs previous races there.

Will be my first Full distance rolling start - if it's anything like the one at 70.3 Kraichgau, it'll be good. No biff.
