i suppose it's because the english have not felt oppressed - for the last couple of C at least - and now it is probably uncool to declare such an affiliation...

And I think most English people identify as British as they make up the bulk of the union anyway, whereas those from smaller home countries are more likely to identify as 'Welsh' and (hopefully) British. Smaller community and feeling of being the oppressed little guys = stronger identity.

Yep, and also St George seems to also be the patron Saint of half the world's nations as well, so I don't feel a particular loyalty to him, nice as he may have been!

Great St Georges Day party in one of the local clubs - even the Scots joined in Very Happy
