The ballot is open.
Cue another year of waiting, then reading a disappointing magazine.
Bad luck to you all.

Yep, filled it in knowing full well I have knack all chance.
Someone I know entered it twice and got in twice, also entered the ride London ballot and got into that 1st time.

They should definitely be playing the lottery!!
My friend had 4 rejections when they stopped the 5 and you're in rule and has entered every year since...nothing!
I wonder if it is truly random or they take location/occupation/?? into consideration.

The best way into the Ride London is to apply as an overseas entrant from an overseas address. It costs a little more and your address needs to be verifiable using a foreign credit card but I've got in the last two times I applied, and everyone I know here has also.

I've got a 100% record on the London Marathon ballot (2002 and 2009) . Both times I only entered because Mrs W had decided that she was going to enter and it would be "nice" to do it together. Predictably, both times I got in and she didn't, but that was OK because she'd gone off the idea by then anyway
My RideLondon record isn't so good - I got in last year after 4 consecutive rejections (although I rode it 3 times via the BC club scheme)

I got in first try in 2013!
Entered every year since and nothing
I have tried again but it's pretty long odds. You have to be in it to win it as they say.
I Noticed there is a 1000 Extra places for those who donate their entry fee. I wonder what the odds are of this is? As I how many people think £35+ is worth a hoody for a race they aren't doing?

Ditto. I hate tarmac marathons but I guess London has to be done at some point.

Maybe I'm just a Londoner with money to burn, but I assumed that most people treated the entry fee as a sunk cost and donated the fee to charity if they didn't get in
You see a hell of a lot of the RideLondon consolation tops out on the roads around London and Surrey.

I didn't pay anything today, did I do something wrong?
TBH, I didn't even know it was open, a couple of guys at work were entering and mentioned it.

I did 16 of them before I got fed up with the whole running thing but interestingly I have entered again for the last few years but haven't got in again.
