Yes, we all need a full mudguard on the front wheel, and not even a seat stay to protect your arse on the rear!

not uncommon now with beam bikes like the Cervelo P5X, Reap etc.
all these "unusual" bikes have to be approved by the ITU tech committee before being allowed in ITU/BTF permitted events to ensure they are crash worthy. IM do their own thing.

I’ll hazard a guess that the top of the wheel generates turbulence as it rotates against he direction of travel and the mudguard is a cover to make it more aero.

...or, it removes the vertical fork and replaces it with a horizontal fork.
Either way, that's ugly. And that comes from someone who actually liked the Diamondback Andean.

I quite like it, but then I do like quirky. I'd never buy it though

I'm not sure the mudguard being a wheel cover is the main reason, it looks to me a way of eliminating the legs of the fork

Oh yes I'd completely missed that its the fork....
I'd have thought the lotus one sided fork would have been a better bet than all of that....

It would look alright with traditional forks on it!

Aero init. Wheels create turbulence.
Adrian Newey once said if there were no rules in Formula1 the first thing they would do is cover the wheels.
