I used to post a LONG time ago... then my tri life went a bit pete tong as my hip fell apart...

I have just had the BEST news since I was told I could have a hip replacement which happened in 2012.

As THAT time the consultant forbade me from running as I was a big chap (~17 stones) , on a replcement hip.

I've recently lost some considerable weight and am now just above 14 stones ... ~90 Kgs.

My GP has just told me that as long as I am sensible about my approach, I can start running again.

I am having a small weep (with joy) as I type this.

Just gotta get my shoulder sorted, get back in the water. Who knows... maybe that first ironman is a little closer this afternoon...

Not sure horses are to be spoken about in triathlon right now...

But seriously, nice one. Take it easy and find yourself a nice grassy parkrun. We used to post way back when at the same time and I'm finding I'm getting an itch to swim and pedal again... dangerous stuff!

Bl00dy heck, there's something in the water! Poet is back, Graeme4130 is also on the comeback trail. All at the same time my 'lust auf Trisport' is waning a little!

Fear not, I remember you Smile

Congratulations.

Love the spirit too; ~#*$ hip, ~#*$ shoulder, can probably squeeze an Ironman in. Smile

It probably the 30+ years of front row scrummaging that has led me to such disregard for my personal discomfort levels TinPot Smile

Great news, it's been a long journey for you!

I'm a 90kg 'senior' runner, you need to do a lot of self maintenance to keep on top of things, stretching/massage/pilates type stuff but other than that, you can push on with things.
