Tracker has "stopped" again also
I'm sure it will restart again with another 100miles on the clock...
I am also sure the timer rewound a couple of days.... I might be imagining that though.
For a man doing incredible things with NOTHING to do in-between swims but post away on social media, after all he is stuck on a boat whenever he isn't swimming!
He sure is quiet?

i am friends with a swimmer who pitched for this a while back, but the sponsor had a preferred 'image' to portray by all accounts.
It's serious for those in that small world of ultra swimming...more serious than blagging a yacht for a long cruise, at least... |
It seems like athletic ability isn't necessarily a pre-requisite for support and funding to do interesting and challenging physical activities these days. All you need is a high profile on social media and maybe a youtube vlog with a decent number of followers.

Tracker has jumped forward again. Now appears to be at Torquay. Check point type markers have now been added. No explanation of what they are. My only presumption is each stopping point between swims.
He's updated on twitter as well. Apparently the plan was not to hug the coastline on this most recent bit, but sea conditions meant they had to, which has added distance and time.
To be fair to him, the updates he is posting, do seem to demonstrate he's doing what he says he is doing. It would still be nice to have something more real time, and he really should have used a couple of rotated Garmin's, or something similar, which he could upload GPS tracks from along with swim metrics to prove what he's done.
It's safe to say, nearly 19 days in, the 100 day target is never going to be achieved, but he's still apparently swum over 250 miles in under 19 days, so over a half marathon per day, which is quite frankly insane.

That sentence has been added since I posted!

Yes, in the GPS era, a lack of data can make people circumspect about your claims. Just look at some of those runs across America, or freaky fast AG winners in World LD champs (the female NZ school teacher who out swam Dylan McNiece).

Following the holiday cruise that chap had from West Africa to Brazil you'd think/hope that they'd be extra transparent with data/positioning.
Whenever he's not swimming I'd hope they mark the co-ordinates and return to that point when he gets back in. In their shoes I'd mention that in their PR stuff at the outset.
Unless of course they drop anchor as was suggested on the long distance swimming forum in relation to our Atlantic friend...!

Per twitter, he did a 26 miles day today (?? - the tweet was from 1hr ago).
Is that really feasible? A marathon, significantly more than a channel crossing, in just one day? As part of multiple swims, every day, for what is now three and half weeks?
The video of him with dolphins on twitter was pretty cool. But that showed the effects of the currents. He stopped for 20s or more to watch them, and you can just see him drifting back from where he had just swum.

No it’s not possible, I can only think that some strong currents might assist, but I have no idea if they get that strong.

Is anyone looking at reaction on any endurance-swimming websites?
From the snapshots of comments on here there is definitely a heavy air of 'suspicion'...
I'd be curious to know what those who live in that particular sphere think about it...

I had a quick look around early last week but couldn't find any reference to it. Thought they'd be all over it

Agreed, I did something similar in the first couple of weeks. The same people who were all over the guy swimming the atlantic were pretty silent on this.

I think they have more important things to discuss...

41 days 15 hours gone and after 70 swim sessions and 500k swum our plucky hero has just passed Milford Haven, safe to assume he's not going to complete in the 100 days I'd have thought
