Probably something in that. Not cost for the competitor, but for the organiser.

There can't be much difference between the costs for putting on an Oly v. Half, yet you can charge more than 2x for an entry fee. If you are doing shorter races you tend to race more often and be more cost sensitive, so entry fees and overnight stays will affect the choice of events. The half might be your 1 main race for the year (or one warm up for a full IM) so people are prepared to spend a bit more?

some of the comments about "not being an Ironman" are getting a bit nasty now. I think that the admins have done another purge, banning people

This Ryan Rookie guy does talk some sense, hope he has not been banned

Given the level of meltdown following a 17 mile course shortening, What will happen if the swim is cancelled

😂 he should still be there

Meanwhile there’s a defamation case building on IMJ for the other Rookie.

Something about enjoying others misfortune.

Isn't ITU Long course a 4K swim and shorter bike/run?

just come back from the ITU Long Distance world champs in Denmark (I was on the Official's team).

it was a 3k swim, 121k bike, and 30k run which is pretty usual for an ITU LD event - sometimes the swim length will be 4k but the others are usually set around the 120k and 30k mark.

It's fine as long as they have a corner chipped off the M somewhere! Or maybe the actual distance marked - 2.4 - 95 - 25
