We are delighted to announce that we are returning to Farmoor Reservoir in Oxfordshire, for a weekend of Triathlon and Running events in July 2019.

Behind the scenes this year we have been working with Thames Water to secure the venue and are delighted to now be in a position to open for entries.

After completing the Swim element in Farmoor Reservoir (normally closed to swimmers), participants will enjoy cycling on the network of roads around Farmoor on the well-managed routes that we have designed with excellent support from Oxfordshire Highways and Thames Valley Police. The run route circumnavigates the Reservoir and as such is almost completely flat and allows support crews and spectators to see athletes multiple times per lap.

We are following our tried and tested format from Immortal Stourhead and Immortal Wimbleball with a 10k run on Saturday 20th July in the morning, a Sprint Triathlon on Saturday at 5pm and a Middle Distance Triathlon on Sunday 21st July.

For those Triathletes looking for the ultimate challenge there is also the option enter the exclusive Triple Crown: Enter and take part all three events with VIP extras for a lower price than entering them separately.

Places for all the events are limited and we expect them to sell out.

Best wishes,

Lucy, Steve and Jody

This sounds marvellous and I'm going to do the triple. Great to have an event at Farmoor - should be a lovely venue!

I don't suppose there will be camping available?

Great Stuff.

There is a campsite just a few 100 meters away from the race venue https://www.valleyfarmcampsite.com

We are working with them as a partner and will add all details to the website.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Jody

Thanks very much.

It is a great venue and looks to be a really fast course.

Cheers,

Jody

Shame there's no wee iron man distance option this time, it was great fun in 2015.

There are a least three sets of traffic lights on the cycle lap (which you do three times for the middle). How's that going to work then?

Good question.

The first set you arrive at is a left turn at a T-Junction which will be manually controlled and a dedicated left turn lane created for athletes. We used exactly the same method of traffic mangament in 2015, when TC finished 3rd!

The second set are over a narrow bridge, these will either be manually controlled or turned off and Stop and Go boards used with the priority to athletes.

The final set are over the Thames by 2 pubs (great for spectating), these will be switch off and CSAS Officers with police powers will manage the traffic again prioritising athletes.

We used very similar methods in 2015 when we hosted a full distance event at the same venue.

The police and highway authority have been consulted at all the planning stages, including site meetings and are more than happy with our proposals.

I hope this helps.

All the best,

Jody

It is something that we want to do again but it is so demanding on the volunteers who already give up so much free time to help at our events that we need to see if there is enough demand and or the commercial viability of it.

Personally I am trying to convince my colleagues that it should happen in 2020.

You could always try the triple crown!
