Mind, if Jorgan turned up it could be nearly 30c with your track record

Done the maths. Statistically, if I'm racing, there's a 57% chance the weather will be one extreme or other Smile

It's still the 'new' flat one from 2018 what I can see. Where did you get wind of another change? I can find nothing on FB or Google.

Hey, that week before Xmas, the one with rubbish weather? I cycled in everyday. What was that Ali quote? Wink

I'd crush that Arctic 6633 race like a ripe grape....but at 3200 just for the entry, I'll have to skip it for now!

That's more like it. I might start a vlog or something.

Flights & accommodation booked. Only 4 seats left too, so not a moment too soon. Went via Expedia, got rtn flights from BRS with my bike and 5 nights at the Crowne Plaza (B&B) for under 900; I was surprised at that tbh.

I'm in.

Going to be a shock to the system, had to pull out of (starting) two fulls in 2017 due to illness and only did a half last year.

I had a 'down' year from full distance last year; it was nice not having to worry about the training tbh. My three best IM times, I hadn't done an IM the previous season. I'm trying to tick-off all the 'conditions for success', like being back commuting by bike, convenient pool access, year off the previous season, lucky heather etc Very Happy

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the choice and cost of accommodation in Hamburg.

ETA - my best two times were odd years too, so another one ticked-off Cool Rolling Eyes

Soooo

Run looks 'good' (not too many twists and turns, not up a road and back).

Bike potentially good - a couple of dead turns but I presume silky roads and plenty of uber bikers to sit just the right distance behind

Swim (?) Anyone know Hamburg? Seems to be in some kind of river harbour. Is there a current? Fresh water I presume.

Am feeling quite up for it now.

You know that the swim was cancelled last year due to blue-green Algae? It's in a lake, that is apparently very murky!

I would imagine Ironman will be VERY keen not to have two swim cancellations in a row, as that would probably kill the event; I'm sure it's why the event has taken it's time to fill this year (still tier 3).

Expect to have someone tipping bleach into the lake in mid July if things look a bit dodgy Laughing

Yes I do, and it is one of the reasons I was reluctant to enter. Unfortunately due to family logistics it's the best fit this year.
