I too am a newbie - first tri at Stratford on 9th. A little nervous so piggy-backing the 'welcome newbie' trail.
Hello to all and hope to contribute soon. And apologies in advance to anyone stuck behind me this weekend.

Hi,
Quick note to Gasguzzler & Budgie - I have just started up Tri again after a 10 year gap....and just joined Warrington Tri CLub who have just started out.
I went to their first meeting the other week not knowing anybody. They are very friendly and welcomed everybody.
If anybody wants to go training let me know, & remember were all here to have fun, I think

Hello all.
I'm 29, Capricorn, my favourite band is... oh, you're not interested in that kind of thing.
As for stuff that is relevant, I entered for the London Tri this August, and planned a few 'warm up races before. I was assuming this would be non the back of me being in good shape after the Marathon in April. However exploding knee caps meant that instead my first tri was at Winchester a few weeks ago and based on a training programme of 10 weeks watching TV and then 2 laps round the block (1 bikem one run) the week before. Still, you live and you learn.
Not intending (or likely) to be qualifying for any GB teams, but more to give a purpose to training which before had been for a regular half marathon in March and then a few mountain bike races over the winter.

My start time at Stratford is ridiculously early Mr. Paisley - 7.35 am. Swimming I can do, the rest is new to me.
See you guys there somewhere - just say hi when you overtake the guy going backwards on a Giant TCR. That's me that is.

Hi all,
I am new to the scene.
I come from a football background, but am giving that up as had too many injuries.
I am 31 and live in Worthing. My first event is the Sussex Tri, but only the novice event(break myself in slowly!!!).
I am an average runner, improving swimmer and very bad on the bike!!
So lots of room for improvement

I'm pondering the Sussex tri -did it last year, and surely we wont have thunder and lightening again

Morning all.
I've posted a couple of time before, but guess i'm still a newbie...and a triathlon virgin
Started running about a year ago, and fancied giving somthing else a go. I was always cross-training (bike etc) at the gym, so Triathlon seemed the obvious choice.
I'm 25, live in Essex, work in London, soon to be married.
I look forward to the day i can call myself a Triathlete. At the moment i can run OK , Swim like a brick and don't have a bike ...so at the moment i guess im more of a Trathlte....that is a Triathlete with a couple of the essentials missing
Heres hoping i can put that right and enter my first race by the end of the summer
Dan

Hi Dan
--your half way there with setting your goal and joining us on TT --welcome
Dont worry I think some of us still have essentials missing
You'll have to enter something by the end of the season otherwise you'll find the wait for the next one to start is soooooo frustrating
--infact 2 would be good since after 1 you'll be raring to goooooooo

Hi All
Just joined the forum, 3rd year taking part in tri after an 8yr break road running. Just started back cycling & swimming after spending the last 4 months training for London Marathon. Running is the last thing I need to work on but fancied trying to run a quickish marathon. Racing Northampton Supersprint then Dambuster so it gives me a little time

Hi Dan and the other new folks
Dan as Sue said enter a race for soonish as you are bound to want to do more as soon as you can. My first race last year was the Trisport Epping TryaTri (20th June this year). It is a nice event aimed at beginers though some of the bikes in transition looked a bit profesional next to my mountain bike. Good value too at £20 including a shirt, goody bag, and breakfast.
Go on you know you want to.
Cheers
Trevor

Hi Trevor
I was looking at this but then realised i am abroad at the time getting married. Its a shame as they are my local club
I have told the missus to be what an inconvinience it is, but she's having none of it
Looking at early August for my first i think. I willhave a look at the events listing and sign up soon.
