Seen a a couple of pairs of second hand Zipp 440s on ebay in germany and am thinking of bidding for them:

They both seem to be a few years old but from what I've read, they are a quality wheel.

I'm curious though as each pair has different decals on them. Anybody know the history of the wheel? Has the design changed much in the last few years and what sort of price should I be looking to pay for a second hand pair??

cheers

I still have one exactly the same as this on the front built up onto a Royce hub. It has been a very good wheel, although it is a little flexi when you're out of the saddle. You have to expect a bit of flex when you've only got 18 spokes!

Peety - I've got a pair of Zipp 440s that are almost as old as I am! Well not quite! They are built up on Zipp carbon huns are are 18spoke radial on the front and 24 cross-over at the rear. They run smoothly, quietly and have never bothered me in strong crosswinds. I did get mine looked over not long after I bought them to make sure but I have never regretted buying them. A fine pair of wheels indeed!
