Just found this thread - much more fun than counting lengths in a pool Very Happy

First gig was Queen at a place called Bingley Hall in Staffs, don't think it's there any more. That was (I think) '76 (FA Cup Final day if I remember correctly!!).
Over the ensuing year saw most bands, seemed to be resident at Manchester Apollo during teen school years. Highlights - AC/DC with Bon Scott, Motorhead (Bomber tour with that f***ing huge metal plane hanging out of the ceiling!), Thin Lizzy with Phil Lynott & Cozy Powell, Queen 3 nights on the trot. The list goes on.
Best gig - Led Zep at Knebworth '79. Dogs Boll***s. They were, and still are, to my mind, the band that made better music than all the others. 4 great talents all together and you only have to look at some of the early footage on that DVD that came out a few months back to appreciate that.
I could go on....

Go for it CJ.

I also saw the Bomber tour, was down the front at Hammersmith Odeon with my mates and we were nearly ejected for trying to put our heads in the speakers - to this day I have tinnitus. Also saw Thin Lizzy, I think it was their last ever gig with Phil Lynnot which was the Sunday night headline spot at Reading Rock Festival. I was a big fan of their guitarist John Sykes, who was ex Tygers of Pan Tang and who had the best hair in Britain as far as I was concerned. Other great gigs were Sabbath (20 minute Tony Iommi guitar solo - woohoo), Rainbow at the Rainbow (sadly that venue is no more either) with Ronny James Dio on vocals and of course Richie Blackmore on lead guitar. Also, Whitesnake - I'll never forget seeing their live version of Deep Purples Mistreated, Dave Coverdale was awesome. Also saw Rush a few times too, Canadas greatest export.

Aaaah, happy days.
Simoni, Salvoldelli, Cunego, Bettini... The Jan has not seen this much back hair since he was watching King Kong.
