We are setting up a BTA affiliated club in Bristol. Finally! Swim sessions will be Wednesday nights from February onwards. Other sessions planned but will be shaped by input from members. First club meeting will be 4 or 5 February. Contact me if you want to join. My email is nadiasaba@blueyonder.co.uk and number is 07974 353362. Very Happy

Nadia, have you ever used the Easy Runner shop in Bristol. It's about the closest place to me that does computer foot strike analysis and I was wondering if it was any good.

Good luck with your club - we set ours up (Brecon Multisport) just over a year ago. There was quite a bit of work involved with getting funding, club constitution etc, and sorting out coaches too. It's worth it though.

Hi Slowpoke
Thanks for your encouragement!
Yes I have a long history of using Easy Runner (11 years). To be perfectly honest it is very hit and miss in there. The older couple who own and run it are, quite frankly, two of the rudest people I have ever met. It doesn't help us that they have no effective competition in Bristol. They therefore have no incentive to either be nice or offer good prices/deals. However, they do seem to employ some very nice and surprisingly knowledgeable young runners (well, younger than them!). My advice would be to go there, avoid the old, mean people with the monopoly, approach one of the (invariably young and probably paid less than the minimum wage) other staff members, use the footscan (they will also watch you run up the hill), take advice on what shoes you need, then go find a better deal in the back of Runners World magazine and buy them mail order. Magic.

Thanks for the advice.

My closest specialist running shop is run & become in Cardiff, and I found them a bit rude and expensive too. I think it's the lack of competition thing.
