Hi all,

I'm in the market for a cyclocross bike. I will be using the bike mainly for my 10 mile commute. I normally use my road bike, but the main road is pretty busy, and there is a good alternative route if you don't mind tiny, dirty b-roads, gravel tracks, bridal ways and canal paths. Hence why I thought a cyclocross would be perfect. Also, it will make a great winter bike, and I do actually fancy giving cyclocross a go at some point.

So the bike. I intend to buy this on the cycle-to-work scheme, so my budget is 1,000 or there abouts. I'd prefer the bike to remain on the aggressive side in terms of geometry, just because that is what I am used to. Also, I'd prefer not to loose a massive amount of speed from my road bike. I know I'm not going to be able sustain the same speed over rough terrain, but if the journey takes too long, it just becomes unpractical.

Suggestions please, thanks in advance
