It's ask here or go on Facebook so I'll suffer the jibes here first.

So I noticed some er damage on the um shaft the other week, and was a little perplexed as to when and how it had happened, and kind of forgot about it.

Today I've done 2hrs10 run/walk and let's just say I'm not running again until I've sorted this out. I don't want to describe really but let's just leave the word 'lesions' out there.

I've been running nearly four years and never has The Old Chap suffered beyond a little chill in the winter.

The only thing I can think of as a possible cause is that both times I was wearing my new Adidas shorts, that have a "Supernova" lining. Started using them about two months ago, only noticed this twice, and can't find my old Nike Air shorts that have been fine to date.

Other than my skin, what gives?!

Your a brave man posting that delicate information on here...........

A similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago.....I didn't have the balls to put it up.....or so to speak...

My issue was a strange seam on a new pair of tri shorts rubbing the bit of gold. There currently on ebay 99p reserve if your interested.

Yeah i've had something similarish, but more chaffy than full on lesions. But it was a weird seam in a new pair of shorts, so i hacked out the apple catchers and just wore some decent fitting underwear beneath them when i used them. But they were relegated down the order of shorts i.e. only came out when i have been too lazy to do the washing!

So it is common to be the lining then, I will ritually burn them tonight.

No protective workarounds?

I've noticed some friction riding as well, wondered if talc or lube or some sort of protective condom* would help.

Damage is on one side, I dress to the right, so I'll try cellotaping it to my other hip today.

*Mrs already thinks I've "been up to" something, so Im already scuppered

Wear some close fitting briefs for a while, reduce any motion. I do nearly all my runs in tri shorts. Sounds like you had a reaction to the lining.

I have an issue with a couple of pairs of cheap Karrimor shorts from Sports Direct. Any runs over an hour, I get bad chafing on the insides of my thighs from the seams. Just slightly larger, and worse made, than those in good shorts!

I've never had an issue with the shaft though

Ooh a good 'insert pun here thread'

Can you get a refund on them or did you get shafted?

Normal cotton briefs?

best seamless running underwear I have are the Craft stay cool boxer, the current version looks a bit different to mine. The Odlo stay cool ones are good too and look more similar to the current.

seamless running underwear does give you freedom to wear any shorts above without any rubbing as long as it's not down at thigh level, but I'm more towards the people who can't stop a pig than can so don't know much about them.

That's what I wore after having the snip, but that was the middle of winter i.e. minimal sweating. I would say trunks or tri-shorts as it gets warmer.

It may not necessarily be the lining, but could be to do with the way you are treating your wanger.

Are you using different soap/sexy lube/contraceptives? Have you changed your laundry liquid or conditioner? Are you having more sexiness in your life (you lucky duck you)?

It could well be seams though. I did the Swashbuckler last year in a pair of club trishorts that didn't quite fit as well as I thought. I only discovered my cockal chaffage when I immersed myself back into the salty brine when I got to the hard at the end of the race. There was definitely a sting.

Post some pictures and we'll see if we can diagnose.

Any update on that link. I've just spent my lunchbreak pouring over the site, and not sure which one is yours?

have you tried a cricket box between the meat and 2 veg and the shorts?? I would think that might prevent any shaft chafage - and you might also get some admiring glances.... Wink
