I deferred this year and got my letter today, still can't run longer than 10k without setting my injuries back again though so need to get to the bottom of it before Christmas.

The deferral is still in the GFA pen as well.

And it's another no for me. Not sure I'm particularly disappointed, as the only long runs I've done over the last two years is when I had giardia, so could be a let off.

I got my consolation training top of disappointment on Tuesday. Shame - I really have tried an awful lot to get into the London Marathon. I'm beginning to thing GFA is the "easier" way.

What are the numbers/proportions of entries for elite, championship, GFA, celebrity, lottery and charity? I'm guessing lottery is still the biggest single class of entry, didn't they adjust the GFA times a few years ago to keep the numbers in check?

Can you get a guaranteed entry from abroad by using an official travel agent (SportsTours?) I seem to recall this was a method of getting into New York and even Boston a few years back - although Boston may have changed to insist on a qualifying time as well.

It is great training top though Surprised

GFA, although reasonably easy to qualify if you stay injury free, means running another marathon which means eating into the tri season Mad

Another GFA slot here, although like JeffB I'm not doing a heck of a lot of running at the moment. Picked up an achilles strain in a midweek August 5k that just doesn't want to be fixed quickly and had to DNS Abingdon marathon in a couple of weeks. Looks like it'll be a longggg build for London.

99% sure I paid on application. My GFA pack arrived on the first day of ballot announcements. I'm deferring tho.

That's what I thought too, but I've just gone through my emails and I didn't click the real buzz link. So looks like I missed the deadline. Hey ho! I may go and run Paris instead

Project GFA 2019 started yesterday. 1.41 local half as a benchmark before aiming at a 3.29 Newport Wales Marathon next year. That should give me a good base of training and a real understanding of whether 3.05 in 2019 is even vaguely achievable, or if 3.15 seems more doable (without stating the obvious - I mean personal limitations) then hanging on a year or two until they take pity on the elderly and up the GFA benchmark for 40+.

21st London Marathon for me. Thank goodness for GFA. Will be my first as a V50 so that's a target to see if I can still do sub-3 at 50.

I think I have a GFA place - can't really remember about payment, but I got the 'You're In' letter...
