My running club usually does an early autumn trip somewhere in Europe and are struggling for a destination this year. Wondering if anyone here can help out?

There must be loads of smaller maras out there (e.g. like the equivalent of say Abingdon) in Europe so hoping someone on here has a tip!

Requirements are:
- ideally somewhere warm
- marathon distance, and ideally shorter distance(s) too as not everyone will be running a full
- good for tourists is a nice to have
- doesn't have to be a major race
- not on Oct 15th weekend (first Southern XC league fixture)

We did Lyon last year, which rules it out this year, and thought Palma might work but it clashes with the XC.

Tours!

24th September. Normally a sunny weekend (however it has been grey so can't promise but then I did Nice-Cannes in the rain Wink )

It has 3 races - the marathon, flat, moderately scenic and not too massive in participation numbers.
And the 10 & 20km. It's a big festive weekend in Tours. The 10 & 20km have been going for years and the marathon was added in 2014 and obviously has higher participation.

Lots to do in the Loire Valley so options are endless. Accommodation options are fairly varied. You can get flights on Ryanair from Stansted to Tours directly - not sure of the exact days.

Otherwise there is Nice-Cannes marathon, the first weekend of November.

Edit: Should've added link to race website http://www.marathon-tlv.fr/

Sorry - just checked website again and I realise they haven't updated the english version of the website since 2015. Typical really but hopefully you can decipher it with school French.

Amsterdam fits everything on the bill except for NOT being on the 15th October weekend. It's a great race, with a half and even an 8k being run at the same time for those who aren't keen on doing the full

http://www.marathondumedoc.com/ ticks pretty much all the boxes, but a PB may be hard to achieve if you really get into the spirit of things.
9 Sep 2017 is the scheduled date.

Cheers for the responses, Tours looks like a very good candidate!
