I talked about races with USPs, to make a change from the samey WTC stuff. It strikes me that Lake 32 is a good venure for a 'rolling' triathlon format i.e. SBR/SBR. Obviously this is for the summer months where you wouldn't need a wetsuit for the second or third swim. There's probably a little bike circuit you could do down the Spine Rd, up the B4696, left and then left again down Spratgate Lane. Then run a lap of the lake. Repeat as required.

Of course, they were doing this stuff in Longleat with the elites 25 years ago Cool There's a video on You Tube of Lessing & Welch head-to-head in this format.

Let me have a think on it and a chat with the team Wink

Obviously this format lends itself nicely to individuals and teams. I do geuninely lament the increasingly formulaic nature of Triathlon.

I'll have a look and see what's possible
Ideally, with the increasing costs of hiring the lake and the facilities around it, we need to be able to ensure we can attract a good number, so need to investigate what options there are for formats and participation options.

I'd like to offer something that works for clubs, teams, individuals and also corporates, so a shorter distance, multi stage relay that based around having fun.

I'm meeting back up with a the 113 Events team next weekend for our Xmas do, so I'll open up the subject then and see if we can pool some beer filled ideas, and then I'll go back through it when I'm sober and work out what's realistic or not Smile

Mixed relays are going to get a much higher profile over the next 2 years.

Absolutely! Fortunately you have a strong brand in the area, so that's a good starting block. I'll concede that without this strong base, doing something like this would not be so easy to attract good numbers to.

Would calling it the 113 Events 'Rinse & Repeat' triathlon be a total cliche?
