Superb performance no doubt; on a notorious course though (for moto pacing the lead bikers). St George provides the context, where he was 4th behind AB, Sanders & Kienle.

I think he's better off staying with triathlon, a switch to discus at this stage is just not going to work out.

He was saving himself for this 7:40 record breaking effort.
Today was HIS day & he deserved it.

For no reason I can really put my finger on, I seem to have an irrational hatred of him

Maybe you had been reading the previous thread which could be summarised, as 'Despite being better than all of us, Tim Don is past his best and has never really reached the top' ?

I remember watching him on the TV almost every week, a few years ago and haven't heard from him much over the last 5 or so years.

I had a quick chat with him at Challenge Bahrain. Very nice, approachable guy.

And great hair.

Outstanding performance even if he was "motor paced" or it was a little short. You can't help but have a little suspicion however. In his career he has been a good ITU athlete, not A-List but comfortable top 20 in World. Very good 70.3 and has won a couple of full distance races albeit weakened fields. He's a fantastic athlete and one of the best runners but has not quite been able to match the big game players regularly. On 2 occasions he's surpassed himself, raced beyond his dreams, had an outstanding performance. One was in a year he missed 3 drug tests, the other is Brazil, in a sport with very little testing at all. It's harsh of me maybe. Still respect where it's due, but still not the real World Record. That's Frodo's 7:35:39 Wink

As a general observation, I'm confident I've been tested (through work) more times than your average professional triathlete; especially the long distance ones. Goes without saying I've got more to lose too.

Anyone who has consistently used BS as a coach has already demonstrated that there is no low they will not stoop to.

Tim Don has been coached for a few years now by Julie Dibens which should make you happy
