I'm now officially a triathlete. After a long lead up (having decided to give tri a go back in October). I completed my first race today, a sprint distance tri in Northwood. I set a conservative target time of 1h45 and a stretch target of 1h30. Well I beat both of those targets coming home in 1h26 and very pleased with that time too.

I experienced a first time triathlete panic attack in the swim. Set off FC at a reasonable pace hit the first buoy and with the biff had such a strong sense of panic I couldn't put my head underwater. Managed to keep moving, found some space and after about 3/400m got back under control and found my rhythm. The rest of the race was brilliant and I had loads of fun. Most pleased with a 22.21 5k to finish, a time that not long ago I would have been ecstatic with as a standalone 5k time.

Swim - 19.01
T1 - 2.26
Bike - 41.14
T2 - 1.17
Run 22.21

Not sure what else to say apart from, got a bit lost in T1 and subsequently forgot my sunglasses and my garmin for the ride.

Bring on the next one, London Tri, moving up to Olympic distance for this one.

Well done. I'm not sure how you can lose a Garmin thing in T1 but no doubt you'll be back here in a couple of weeks bitching about triafletes wearing compression socks and 1998 IM finisher T-shirts in your next race briefing Very Happy

Well done.

You'll find it's rather addictive...

It's my watch, decided to not wear it for the swim and put it on in t1. Then just completely forgot.
