they will sell you some shoes, certainly... |
Agreed.
I have never seen a running shop look at anything but the foot/shoe combination as the cause/cure for running issues. Even a really fancy one with force plates chose to ignore the fact that the person in question spent almost double the time on the ground with the injured side than the none injured side. All they saw was over-pronation. Guess what? They had a shoe for that. |
I don't really take either as gospel. I've had my feet/posture looked at by ski boot fitters, a PT, two different bike fitters, a shoe salesman and a physio. I've had everything: no over pronation, only one foot over pronating, both, arches fine and arches collapsing.
I was really kind of wondering if my old orange pair were too bad to race in on sunday. Feel okay in the short runs I've done this week.

Did they then go on to tell you your 'glutes aren't firing'? |
. Well she said my gluteus maximus were "powerful" actually, but the medial glutes weak.
Had me lay on my side and raise one leg, said I should be able to resist her pushing the leg down, but I couldn't. Meant nothing to me.

No. I'd wear brogues/oxfords for work and most social events. Although I'd wear trainers to the pub if, say, my feet were hurting. |
then it is pretty pointless trying to determine anything about your running from them...

what's wrong with them? there is some wear pattern difference between left and right but unless the shoes are really badly constructed, it i more likely your form and/or conditioning that is your issue...
