No they'd get to carry on racing pro... And Barry Gibb gets to carry on doing Glastonbury, not the open Mic night at your local.

explorerJC The only completely free race is the full open category, effectively limited to males of course for hormonal reasons, and for that reason a female category is normally justified, it's highly unethical to race that if you are male, or even if you simply have the hormonal advantages.

It gets more complicated (and that is of course complicated already) as you slice the categories every finer to enable even more sub groups to compete.

AG triathlon with both amateur, age, financial, and time selection limits is pretty tight and you should probably try very hard to not abuse it.

what's a free race got to do with it? if they meet the criteria, they get to enter...it really isn't that difficult, just the same as every other walk of life

Of course this is about sport, isn't it? Although I suppose if Adele* were to show up at a local talent contest I'd feel the same way.

Boy George or David Essex maybe? they can stay the hell away from BGT Exclamation

Judging by Gibbs performance at Glastonbury even Id beat him at a singing contest

Yellow pages ads and singing? multi talented :0

Back O/T Wink

The inaugural Jenson Button Triathlon at Luton Hoo (2012?)

Came back to find my bike and all my gear had been slid down the rail so that some other "person" could have the spot that I'd got by getting to the event in good time.

Decided never to return to the event if that was the sort of person that attended!

Judging by the latest Aldi advert, Alistair Brownlee would be my first suspect if someone was letting down tyres in transition Wink

They had allocated spots when I did it two years back, so I guess it was a big problem!
