Unfortunately I don't think there is an app. The Vivo doesn't have the algorithms to correct for drop-outs in GPS signal, hence why you can't just put it in run mode & swim.

Non swimming garmins work perfectly if you just stick under your hat. Actually far more accurate than wrist based.

That's actually a good idea (for most). I can never keep a swim hat on for more than a few hundred metres it would seem (even with goggle strap over them). They always fall off in races, usually before the first turn Rolling Eyes

Fasten the watch through your goggle strap at the back then it doesn't matter about the hat.

No idea of how good it is (as I have a 920), but this one shows as compatible with the vivoactive;

I have brought watches that say Triathlon compatible Forerunner 305 only to find that its NOT, then a swim watch that wouldnt operate in open water, then another swim watch that didnt work at all. so getting frustrated as i wouldnt spent 100's on a Fenix

The 305 is a very old model (I've still got one somewhere) I don't think anything did swimming at that point in time.

The first watch that really did do everything was the 910XT, I have one of those too. They can be picked up pretty cheaply now. The OW isn't as accurate as the newer models but it's good enough.

I've also recently bought a Fenix 2 which I'm finding pretty good so far. It isn't widely liked and was quickly replaced by the Fenix 3 so they're pretty cheap too.

100 will get you either of the above or stick with what you've got and put under hat/on goggle strap as discussed.

I've tried this trick a couple of times, usually get to the end of a lap go to check it only to find out it hasn't started or some other problem. I just stick mine on walk mode and swim with it on my wrist. The biggest issue is that the trace goes out and it overestimates my swim distance and flatters my swim speed.

you got me all excited there, but, If you read the reviews, its pretty crap
the problem with the vivoactive is hardware and this software app can't fix that
it doesn't work if you wear it on your wrist, it needs to be out of the water Sad
