Just saw this in the papers:

Rather sad.

Was he known around 'these parts'?

Very sad, and the second fatality in as many years Enduroman team have had to deal with and they took the first one very hard. They are all like a big family. He was known by most of the Enduronutters, a regular at AT. Hes a legend in those parts because he completed a double a few years back with a fractured foot.

Yeah, I was at Nick's funeral last year. Hugely sad as he gave a lot to the local tri community, but due to the qualities of the man it was one of the best funerals I've been to.

My thoughts go the family & friends of Douglas.
