Hi everyone,
Newbie first time poster here.
Looking for a bit of advice or alternatively a shoulder to whinge on!
I decided after a pretty long season to call it to an end after a race last Saturday.
I have been advised to take 2 weeks complete rest followed by another 2 of very easy non structured stuff. After 6 days of complete rest I am feeling absolutely shattered! This is probably the longest I have ever taken off training other than for an injury. Does anyone else feel tired and lethargic during this rest period?
I have an Ironman next year so I know in the long run the rest will probably do me good but man I'm bored!

This. Feet up, wine/beer/spirits in. And cake, cake works well.
Then find a winter half marathon and enter that.

Active recovery is best... |
Not if you are drunk...

- go on holiday
- buy a new winter bike
- find a new challenge over the winter
Any or all of the above

I like the Chrissie Wellington approach: go so all in for the over-eating/do sod all/get fat/eat crap that after a couple of weeks you're actually fed up of it and WANT to go back to 'normal' with structured training etc....
I have a week of nothing, 2 weeks absurdly easy active recovery (during which I plan training, races etc).
My gut feel is that I don't kick back enough since I always feel as if running on fumes by the time of my 'A' race....

I do naff all until Jan 1st when training for the new season starts. Or rather, nothing geared towards anything but having fun abusing my summer fitness to break friends on the local MTB trail.
Getting drunk as SGreg suggests is great as well. If you have trained properly then you'd be off in a drunken stupor after two pints. I'm such a drinking lightweight when in training. Cheap!
