Ah right; I was trying to think of a Pro.

The legend that is Tim Don will not need to 'power his way to the front' - he should be nicely front main pack out of the drink, and only just down on the Frodo lead group.

Logic says then sit in and hitch onto the Sebi/LS express when it comes through - even if he doesn't do that staying main pack should mean he reaches T2 with a good lower half of top 10 finish in reach.

What's the best ever GB male KONA finish position?

TRO
He's not that type of rider, however 4:06 is 4:06 even if it was a much easier course.
Would love to see him or DM finish top 10. Top 5 is probably not realistic but it can be a strange race.

Both have reasonable shouts of top 10 - DM's issue is that he can fall off the bike pace and then a great run only puts him 10-15th range. TD looks like he could hang with the main bike pack which could put him lower half of top 10 with a good run.

Much more GB interest in the women - Joyce, Charles could feature in the 'behind Ryf' shake up, think we have 3 or 4 more competing as well....

We're probably talking both races but at least our ladies are racing for a podium spot.
Ali B and Gomez need to get involved, now that would be a race

Yes, it is in the schedule on redbull.tv. Says "Tune in to www.redbull.tv/ironman for full live coverage on October 14. If you’re in the USA tune in to www.ironman.com"

Ironman just released this.

Can't really tell if this means the same coverage as before, just on new platforms, or if the coverage itself will see a step up.

In the last few years Don has not been able to hold the wheel in the pack all the way to T2. Has he really improved that much this year?

The best move the goalposts: Wellington did this, Ryf hasn't yet.

I'm not sure Ryf will improve anymore because she doesn't have to as there's no one challenging in long distance.

I'd contest that anyone that breaks the record on a world championship course has moved the goalposts...

Buzz
Matt Bottrill thinks so....
I guess he is his bike coach.
Next week will tell, he's obviously improved by how much is hard to say.

I'm guessing Brazil was quite different to Kona i.e. it was cool/wet and a flatter course. Plus the suggestion that the moto stays close to the leader. If you're not in the lead in Kona on the bike it's apparently the surges & yo-yoing that kills a lot of people.

That's my guess Stenard. They mention the same commentary team but with the addition of a few facebook live feeds and some aerial footage.

Being a patriotic Brit, as a really massive outside chance in the female race.... Lucy Charles... for sure she'll be quick out of the water, probably embarrassing a fair few of the guys.... she'll have to work to stay ahead of Ryf after that, but I could see a strong second place if everything comes together... she's spent the last few weeks heat training in Lanza with some HUGE mileage, and is looking really really strong....

Males... its Frodo all the way... no one even close unless he has a technical on the bike and a complete mare...

Wellington, Ryf are both tainted goods who have made the sport, and particularly the womens race more unmarketable to the mainstream media than drugs ever did. Once they and their ilk are gone the sport may pick up a bit. Don is tainted by the same brush which is why he is largely ignored.
