It's beyond belief that there would be anyone on that island on this week that isn't being extra cautious for cyclists.
Gutted for him, top 5 was on a possibility.

Putt Putt got taken out race week also a few years back. Cant imagine how you must feel, all that effort and expense and someone ruins it.

I think they're used to having a fairly deserted island to themselves; every October a bunch of triathletes descend and cause mayhem. They can't cope with the mayhem it causes to their normally quiet existence. Having a bunch of self obsessed Type A triathletes whizzing around won't help.
