How are people finding the new Matt Dixon book, 'Fast track triathlete'. Any thoughts on the training content?

Where do you do the swim in a track triathlon - I wouldn't've thought the steeplechase water jump was deep enough?

They used to do this in France in the 90's. Lots of people fell off the bike though, because wet cyclists and slippery wooden tracks don't mix that well. A mandatory 10-second towel stop was introduced:
Reading outdoor velodrome had a few row-bike-run events around that time too, with the rowing machines in the centre of the track. Good fun, but having novices on a concrete track sometimes went painfully wrong, as did the chaos of some people at full speed going round on bikes, with others just trying to start their laps, and runners having to cross over at some point and dodge others just finishing the bike. I think it all became too much of a liability in the end and had to stop.

^^ I remember Garrett McCarthey's saddle broke off when he mounted in one of those events; and he did the whole bike out of the saddle. That was an 'all-star' event with Allen, Lessing, Welch et al.
You could easily argue Triathlon has gotten way more formulaic over the decades.
