Doing Mallorca 70.3. in May. Anyone else?

Donít know whether to use road bike with clip on tri bars or TT bike. I am a rubbish and nervous descender and it is the 5 or 6 mile descent from Lluc that puts me off using the TT bike. Thoughts/advice please from those that have done this course on either road or TT bikes ?

Yep, I'm doing it. I'm intending to use the TT.
I was speaking to a friend who has done it a few times before over the weekend, and he has said it's a pretty slow descent regardless of the bike.

Like you, I'm certainly not going to be setting any fast times on those hairpins on the way down, be that road bike or TT, so I may as well get the benefit of the TT on the 30 odd km out to the climb, and the 30 odd km back.

I am not doing it this year, but i have completed twice, once in the sun, once in the rain.
I am pathetic going downhill but did it both times comfortably on a TT bike and the rest of it as flat with winds so you need one.

FWIW The rainy year was a much nicer descent as it seemed to put everyone as pathetic as me speed wise, whilst in the dry everyone seemed to be trying to out break each other so the risk is more someone else knocking you off with their lack of ability/control than your own lack of ability.

I'm doing the swim and bike legs as part of a relay, but it's also during a weeks cycling holiday.

I have a TT bike but was thinking of using my road bike for the 70.3, only doing it for fun and it'll be better for the rest of the week away. Not to fussed about losing a bit of time...my question is how much will you lose using a road bike. If it's only 5 or 10 mins i'll stick with the road bike.
